Swimming Pools & Bathrooms

In this letter we are water bound and would like to share some of our projects and ideas around the theme of rooms with the presence of water.

Over the years, in collaborations with top designers, we have perfected the art of transforming bathrooms, powder rooms, public or private pools and spas, into spaces that have a magic of their own. We have collaborated on many special projects, including chateaus, villas, country houses, stately swimming pools and spas of grand hotels. We help designers by giving them a large choice of decors in order to transform a space into many possible atmospheres, all conceived to delight and be custom-fitted if desired. You may easily transform your room into an Ottoman hammam or a tropical rainforest.

Water spaces are a possible option with Iksel due to waterproof printing grounds. We have two options: Fiberglass and vinyl-coated paper. They both have a matte effect, are easy to install, and fully water-resistant.

Let’s take a little tour…

The Iksels

The Woolworth Building

New York

In the early 1900s, as architect Cass Gilbert and retail magnate Frank Woolworth planned the Woolworth Building in New York, they envisioned a grand Pompeiian pool that would echo the atmosphere of ancient Roman bathhouses. The design was intricate and ambitious, intending to create an opulent space to match the towering elegance of what would soon become the tallest building in the world from 1913 to 1930. Although the pool itself was constructed, the surrounding space remained incomplete. Instead of the intended murals and rich detailing, the room around the pool stayed plain—a stark white, empty of the grandeur they had imagined.

Decades later, in a much-anticipated renovation led by architect Thierry W. Despont, this long-forgotten vision was finally revived. Despont sought to honor Gilbert and Woolworth’s original idea, commissioning Iksel a custom version of ‘White Pompeii‘ Architectural Decor.

Majestic Hotel & Spa

Barcelona

In the heart of Barcelona, along the iconic Paseo de Gracia, stands one of the city’s most emblematic buildings: the Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona. Since its grand opening in 1918, the Majestic has become a symbol of elegance and timeless style, embodying the sophistication of the world’s most prestigious hotels. During a recent renovation of the hotel’s Spa and Wellness area, designer Antonio Obrador aimed to create a serene, dreamlike oasis for guests. To achieve this result, he selected Iksel’s Trellis Exotica Scenic Decor and the assorted Trellis Exotica Ceiling in Glass Fibre Wallpaper.
